Electro-acoustic experts Sennheiser will host a showcase in Austin, TX this Friday, March 18, to coincide with SXSW between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Stage on Sixth Street. Brooklyn outfit the Antlers will headline the show with the Luyas and winners of Sennheiser’s Hear.I.Am. music competition, Darlingside, as openers. The masters of all things audio will also be official exhibitors of SXSW’s Gear Alley from March 16 – 19 where fans can try out the audio equipment located next to the official SXSW convention area.
Antlers started as the solo project of vocalist/guitarist Peter Silberman and expanded to a three-piece to include drummer Michael Lerner and multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci on its EPs Cold War and New York Hospitals. The group released Silberman’s shoegaze/post-rock collection of songs about a man losing a loved one to cancer in Hospice, its 2009 self-released full-length debut. Hospice was later remastered and re-released later in 2009 through Frenchkiss.
Northampton, MA-based Darlingside is a five-piece band that creates a mix of rock, folk and classical music. Forming in 2009, it released its first studio album, EP 1 in 2010 and plans to release its full-length debut later this year while touring extensively throughout North America. Canada’s the Luyas will also open for the Antlers as part of its own North American tour in support of its sophomore album Too Beautiful To Work.
