Phill Reynolds

Phill Reynolds is the nom de plume of Silva Cantele, the excellent guitarist for way underrated Italian power pop band, Miss Chain And The Broken Heels. Should you ever get the pleasure of seeing Miss Chain, you’ll get swept up in a storm of Silva’s good strong hooks. And should you be equally lucky to have a chat with Mr. Cantele, you’ll be as fitfully swept up in his knowledge of world politics and good beer.

But here, on the second full album of his folky foray into soloville, you get the best sense of what a deeply thoughtful and melodic man he can be. Full of unfussy, lovely, delicate-to-devestating laments, Love And Rage is aptly titled and a fresh spin on the troubador tract, perfect for your next road trip, or headphones and closed eyes on the bed, away from all the bullshit.

Phill Reynold’s has a few shows left on his brief U.S. tour, so if you’re around the east coast, check him out, dates below. Love And Rage comes out this Thursday, October 1, on Italian imprint, Locomotiv Records.

Oh, and that oddly straight alter ego name? Phill is for Phil Ochs, and Reynolds is for Malvina Reynolds.
