We liked one Holy Youth song so much, we figured more must be better. And we were correct. Here’s the premiere stream of their whole self-titled debut album, out October 14 on Happenin Records.

This quartet from Montevallo, AL jangle around like many a neo-shoegaze garage bunch, but what makes Holy Youth stand apart is Chris McCauley’s genuinely unique, squirrely vocal delivery that hints at being snotty in the face of all the guitar echo and swoony harmonies. The fuzzy riffs always cut through the colour-swirling, as do the busy drumming amid mostly speedy tempos. They’ve already played with similarly minded sucre-stompers like the Fresh And Onlys, Natural Child, Cheap Time and Jacuzzi Boys. There will be some touring, but for now there’s just the record release show in Birmingham, AL, on October 25, at the Firehouse. Check the album stream below and then add it to your Best Debuts of 2014 list.
