Singer-songwriter Aimee Mann will be setting out on her first tour of 2011 this April, playing a select group of shows along the east coast. Most of the tour will take place in North Carolina and Virginia, Mann’s home state. The music industry veteran has been touring a lot lately, both in support of her 2008 album @#%&*! Smilers as well as the musical production that she has been putting together based off her 2005 concept album, The Forgotten Arm.

Mann has been jumping all over the entertainment industry lately. Besides touring and writing, she also got back into the acting world by appearing on the popular new IFC series, Portlandia, alongside Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein. She plays a singer-songwriter who has to take a job as a cleaning lady in order to make ends meet. It’s natural to assume that this was a more natural role for her to play than the toeless, German nihilist that she played in The Big Lebowski.

According to her website, Mann hopes that “Joe Biden and his Trans Am will drop by” at the Wilmington show—and that Ice T and his hot bowl of dicks take a rain check.
