I like it. It's not as convenient as it was before, but I don't mind having to navigate a little to find information. I've used the song clips several times already. The search functions are a little better than before. Also, I like being able to look up 5 star albums in the different genres.

So, what do you think?

As somebody who doesn't use IE unless I'm absolutely forced to (like at work) it bothers me still. It looks better I suppose. Still annoying to navigate though..the convenience was the main highlight. I actually find myself googling for answers instead of just going to AMG

...and it still sucks aaasssss.

Maybe it's another "Macintosh thing", but it does not work for me at all.

I don't think it's horrible, but I don't think it's much of an improvement either.

I'm not a huge fan of having to flip to all the seperate tabs for the different info.

I haven't tried all the new search functions yet, so that might improve my opinion of the new site.

I'm not a big fan of change, but it's slowly growing on me, and it's still light years better than anything else like it...

It seems a bit quicker as well.

I like the attempts at change, but it is still frightfully to slow and cumbersome. Still, I did manage to get most of the info I used for my local bands post from it in about an hour, so, who knows.

I'll give them a bit more time to iron out the kinks and speed it up some before I give up completely. If sped up, I'm pretty sure the tab annoyance would lessen.

I would think that getting the "Mac thing" fixed would be a high priority due to I-tunes, I-pods, and the fact that AMG is really limiting themselves with who they reach with problems like that.

I still dislike it. Screens are not user friendly and hard to navigate. Pages do not load quickly, and some music clips simply do not work at all.

I'm not sure how to get it to work w/ I-tunes, but to use WMP just click on the little speaker icon.

I use IE and actually like the new format better. I agree it would be nice if the discography loaded as the default artist page rather than the overview but otherwise I think everything is an improvement. I'm not really having any speed problems and for artists with large catalogs (eg Johnny Cash), I can actually get to a full album listing faster with the new tab format.

I still think Discography should be the first thing that comes up, not Biography.

The 5 main tabs shouldn't disappear from the top of the page once you're into an album's information--you should still be able to get back to the Discography screen with one click.

There's no reason the complete album review and the song titles shouldn't be displayed on the same page. Put the song titles at the top of the page and the full review below it.

(Hey, I never said I thought it was perfect in last week's AMG threads, I just thought y'all were being knee-jerk crybabies!)

I was perfectly happy with the old AMG - I havent used it too much and so perhaps that is limiting my enthusiasm.

As for MACs, I use a mac with the Mozilla browser and it works fine.

Too much style overwhelming the substance. I find it to be slow too damn purple and too much clicking. There is no need to click "Read More" and see the last sentence of a short paragraph. I can't get the song samples to work: It asks me to log in, so I do, then it goes back to the homepage, so I search again, then back to the song sample and it asks me to log in. Rinse. Repeat.

Plus, they should be absolutely ashamed for rolling out a half-assed overhaul. If it wasn't ready, they should have tested and tweaked until it was 100% ready.

I'm avoiding it. Pains me to say, but I'm not playing ball. www.mp3.com has the same information, so I've been using it.

All of the complaints listed above, I agree with. Navigation through the tabs could be better, the tables are still out of line sometimes for Firefox, and the slower loading times are a pain.

I was discussing it with a programming friend and he said they really screwed it up. They designed it so every tab/page would have to be loaded from the server (there's a name for this, I just can't remember it). Apparently it would've been easy to use Java Applets (this may be the wrong name) so that each tab could be brought up much more quickly. In his opinion this should've been a no brainer but I dunno much about it.

The new releases page is all screwed up too. I clicked on New Reissues and for every week there's an average of 2 or 3 pages worth of reissues. After you're done with page 1, and you click on next page, it takes you to ALL the new releases for that week. Let's just say, I have no clue what new reissues are coming out if they start with the letters R to Z.

I like the old system far, far better. In fact, my Tag & Rename program no longer works with the allmusic database. GRRRRRRRRR...

AMG was best used for research.

As a research service it is cumbersome.

I have taken to keeping the AMG book in the office and using that.

I was able to find an album I'd never heard of that was compared in mood and style to my favorite album through the text search feature. I say that's a pretty cool addition.
