After nearly a year since the unexpected and tragic passing of Maserati’s drummer, Jerry Fuchs, the postrock psych band will finally release Pyramid Of The Sun, which includes Fuchs’ last contributions to the band. Sun, a record with a calming-yet-grandiose post-rock sensitivity, was mixed by Justin Van Der Volgen (!!!, Out Hud) and Temporary Residence founder Jeremy deVine and features two collaborations with friend and tourmate Steve Moore. The sound is more euphoric and melodic than previous albums, and the songs are more instrumentally dynamic and epic. The final climactic track, “Bye M’Friend, Goodbye,” was also poignantly the final track written and recorded with Fuchs.
