M Pour Montréal, Jour 3 | 20 Novembre, 2009
Nothing has gone into my mouth this trip that hasn’t resulted in my tastebuds high-fiving each other. The food up here (and other oral delights) has been so incredible that my American drive to consume is only beat by the amount of time I have to kill between gigs. Oh, if only there were a hot buffet at these venues then life would be fully complete.
While I contemplated my next meal yesterday, I was treated to a few supposedly low-key performances from some of the most talented songwriters of the event. Mark Berube And The Few hushed the talkative crowd as a gorgeous three-piece, even taking the opportunity to step away from the microphone with his accordion and belt out a ballad in the raw. In a chapel one room away, the beautifully gorgeous Inuit singer/songwriter Elisapie Isaac charmed the audience, singing in her native language and winning over fans with her stories. This nice, relaxed gathering culminated in a release party for local photographer Valerie Jodoin Keaton and her new book, Backstage.
Ah, dinner. What a wonderful event. Thank you, dinner, for being there when we needed each other the most. I love you so.
After a delicious piece of sugar pie, the evening showcase started. DD/MM/YYYY, Le Matos and unannounced surprise guest BEAST all drove audiences to destruction through dance. Other bands played too but there was less of a risk of getting smashed by a flailing arm during those sets.
Superlatives! I love superlatives!
