Brooklyn psych-pop group Yeasayer has released a new song through an old method: the postal service. According to We All Want Someone To Shout For the band sent out physical CD copies of the bubbling dance track “Henrietta” to fans on the band’s mailing list, but thankfully the song has made its way to the internet for those of us who don’t get mail from Yeasayer. Listen, below.
This is some of the first material to emerge since the group released its sneaky good 2010 album, Odd Blood, and it shows the band still finding ways to craft joyful noise out of seemingly disparate elements. Starting with a wobbly beat and a pulsing synth, the song takes a trance-like pause halfway through before building toward a hypnotic conclusion. Still odd. Still good.
Yeasayer will hit the road for a series of dates toward the end of June and will also be playing the Osheaga Festival in Montreal. Check out the tour dates, below.
