Indie rock, hip-hop trio WHY? is embarking on yet another North American tour this fall. What sets this tour apart from WHY?’s recent spattering of dates is that the upcoming tour is going to be completely unplugged and acoustic. As opposed to big concert halls and dodgy clubs, WHY? is playing in museums, churches and DIY venues across the country.

The band tells CMJ that it decided to go for the smaller presentations on this tour “to showcase the songwriting since the writing has never been heard. It’s a way for us to be close to the listeners and really connect without all the extra noise of bar glasses and screaming drunks (though I can’t be sure we won’t run across a few of those).”

WHY? frontman Yoni Wolf along with Josiah Wolf and Doug McDiarmid will be playing unheard material from the band’s upcoming untitled fifth album. The new material is an extension of the psych-pop, indie hip-hop combination introduced in 2008′s Alopecia. Additionally, you can also expect old favorites from the prodigious WHY? discography along with covers. Audience members will even be allowed to ask the band questions at each date of this intimate, unplugged tour.

The tour kicks off September 14 in Cincinnati and goes full-circle to wrap up October 15. Check below for the full date list.
