Matthew E. White should really host his own children’s show. The soft-spoken Richmond-based retro-pop artist already displayed that he has a charming screen presence in the video for the stellar Big Inner album-cut “Will You Love Me,” and now he’s back with another light, quirky video, this time for the easy-going “Steady Pace.”

The clip really could serve as a pilot for a Matthew E. White PBS kids’ show. In a tableau straight from his album cover, we find the bearded singer sitting in an odd white space surrounded by wooden cut-outs of trees, bushes and various body-less heads. Maybe the wooden heads could be his Neighborhood Of Make-Believe friends? One even has a crown, so he can be the King Friday. And White? He’s a natural. Look at those dance moves! Check out the video below.
