Brooklyn’s female surf rock trio Vivian Girls has announced the release of its third album, Share The Joy, its first with Polyvinyl, for April 12.
The three-piece band has said that this album will have a cleaner sound than previous ones and will venture into more psychedelic territory with the inclusion of an organ, an instrument the group has never used before. Another departure from their previous work will be the length of their songs, some spanning over six minutes long, and a more pop sound that is distanced from its garage roots.
Calling on one of her songwriting influences, singer/guitarist Cassie Ramone named the group’s third album after a Burt Bacharach song of the same name, one of which was said to be his most haunting work. The group will tour North America with the Black Lips beginning in mid-February.
