Brooklyn haze-pop band and CMJ Music Marathon alum Beast Patrol is following up its debut EP, Fierce & Grateful, with Unarm Yourself, out next month via Space Camp Radio Records. One of the tracks on that EP is Distinct Grandeur, a bright, swooning track led by blurred guitars, a jumpy bassline and Vanessa Bley’s sticky vocals.
Today we’re premiering the video for Distant Grandeur, which takes an abstract, dreamlike look at life, death and existentialism. Here’s what Bley told us about the video:
Distant Grandeur is about self-inflicted fear and the revelation that it’s all inside your head. The video features our friend/model Ned Shatzer, who takes us with him on his near-death experience, psychedelic free fall through heaven and hell (starring his fiance/model Taylor Warren) until he comes crashing back to the moment just before he falls.
The clip was edited by visual artist Max Gleason. Watch the very slightly NSFW video below.
