Thee Oh Sees has just revealed its new album Carrion Crawler/The Dream will drop November 15 via In The Red and it’ll likely land with a crash-boom-bang. The band’s second LP to be released this year was recorded in less than a week, which most likely acted as the perfect way to capture the raw energy of the San Francisco five-piece’s shows. Speaking of shows, Thee Oh Sees will be adding a few dates to its fall tour, making stops at Bumbershoot, Musicfest NW, Halifax Pop Explosion, Fun Fun Fun Fest and Treasure Island Music Festival.

Rough cuts from the album are hot to the touch: played fast and hard with stampeding drums and raucous, splashy guitars. The bass on “Contraption/Soul Desert,” the album’s second track, recalls that monster bass line from Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.” With these tunes on a fall tour, we’re predicting the audience will have no idea what hit them.

John Dwyer, the frontman and founder of Thee Oh Sees, originally began the band as a way to put out his home recordings. Since then the band’s become a legit west coast outfit, dishing out that sun-dried, acid-fried, surf rock in the vein of Wavves or Ty Segall. And yet Thee Oh Sees is so much more. Last year’s Warm Slime, with its whopping 13-minute title track was epic by comparison to its contemporaries. Fortunately, Thee Oh Sees hardly seems out of steam.
