Legendary not-punk band The Replacements have announced their first shows since 1991. The band (whose surviving members are Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson, and Chris Mars) have announced they’ll be playing three headlining spots at Riot Fests in Toronto, Denver and Chicago. The Replacements are scheduled to headline alongside Iggy and The Stooges, Public Enemy, and Violent Femmes, to name a few.
Westerberg and Stinson reunited briefly without Mars in October 2012 to release an EP for fellow band member Slim Dunlap, who had suffered a stroke. The duo autographed 250 copies of the EP and put them up for auction to raise money for Dunlap’s medical bills. The tracks were eventually released to the general public on a regular 12″ and a digital download. It’s still unclear who exactly will accompany Westerberg and Stinson for the band’s reunion shows, but we can’t imagine Mars is gonna miss this.
