Back in March, French electronic duo Justice debuted “Civilization,” the first track off its as-of-yet untitled forthcoming album. The song, though less bass-heavy than the stuff from †, employs the group’s familiar, groovy wall-of-sound approach (with a synth loop on the second verse that sounds a lot like “Baba O’Reily”), and the music video matches it in terms of unabashed immensity. Watch as a snowglobe-like world, where famous monuments like Christ The Redeemer and Mount Rushmore are embedded in desert rock formations, is turned upside-down to spark a stampede of bison that evokes painful memories of The Lion King‘s most tragic scene.
Civilization EP, which includes the single, the video, and a handful of remixes, comes out June 6. The single itself is out now, and the new Justice full-length drops on Ed Banger, sometime later this year.
