Montreal quartet and perennial Polaris Prize nominees, the Besnard Lakes, have announced a new album due out April 2, in addition to releasing the record’s lead single, “People Of The Sticks.” Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO, the fourth full-length from the band lead by husband and wife Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, will be released via Jagjaguwar. The title of their first album since 2010 also marks a break in a trend of beginning the names of their releases with “The Besnard Lakes Are….” You heard it here first, folks.

“People Of The Sticks” is a lovely slice of indie pop goodness that will have you up in your chair, bobbing up and down, feeling the joy I’d imagine Canadians do with a Molson in their hands. If this is an appropriate indication of the album to come, those Polaris people will likely be making them another call.
