The reunion of art-noise legends Swans has been one of the most successful resurrections of a band in years. Unlike most decade-dormant bands, content to play their hits then retire with disposable income, Swans embarked on a decidedly un-nostalgic trajectory, playing its lengthy shows to widespread acclaim and releasing the monumental album My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky. That album made a whole slew of top ten lists, and was, in our authoritative critical opinion, a badass freaking album.

Now it looks like Swans will keep at it. The band, fronted by Michael Gira, will tour the eastern half of the country this September in support of an upcoming live album, as well as a future album of new material that is set to be released next year. With volumes piercing the upper reaches of the possibilities of sound, Swans is known for its live shows, so a live album will be quite interesting.
