Sufjan Stevens, the multi-talented indie-folk hero most famously known for his 50 states album project, which is on permanent hiatus at the moment, has not given up on the dream of Christmas. His recent Christmas project, Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10, spans 59 tracks over five CD’s and can be found packed with loads of goodies, such as an 80-page booklet with essays on Christmas, temporary tattoos, stickers, and a fold-it-yourself paper star ornament. One would think the average consumer would be overwhelmed already. But, keeping with the spirit of the holiday and commercialization, all of these goodies are not enough.

To top off Silver & Gold, Stevens collaborated with Jeff Shoop, Deborah Johnson, and Rosie Thomas (whose alter-ego is Sheila Saputo, Stevens opening act for the Sufjan Stevens Christmas Sing-A-Long Tour) to produce the “Friendship Slay Ride” series, a collection of videos “advertising” Silver & Gold while really just spoofing typical holiday television, ranging from a couple’s Christmas album infomercial, a ‘90s style sitcom, a law firm advertisement and much more!

For a fun holiday drinking game, take a shot every time someone pronounces Stevens’ name incorrectly. Check out the videos and tour dates for the Surfjan Stevens Christmas Sing-A-Long Tour below.
