Almost a year after the breakup of the White Stripes, Jack White has announced the release of his debut album as a solo artist. Blunderbuss, which shares its name with a type of gun, will be released April 24 on Third Man and was recorded and produced by White himself in Nashville. The album’s first single, “Love Interruption,” shows White going more Nashville, less Detroit garage rock, with an acoustic guitar, a Wurlitzer-sounding organ and a gravely voiced female accompanist. But he’s not all soft: “I want love to murder my own mother.” Such a romantic.
The track will be available for purchase tonight at 9 p.m. For eager fans, “Love Interruption” plus “Machine Gun Silhouette,” a track not included in Blunderbuss, will be released on vinyl February 7 and is available for pre-order now.
