Brilliantly named band Ringo Deathstarr (did we mention how awesome that name is?) is going on a lengthy summer tour throughout June and July, playing coast to coast in support of its debut album, Colour Trip. The band will headline in Canada and open for …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead, which should really just be called Trail Of Dead for convenience’s sake.

Ringo Deathstarr (love that name) plays a vein of catchy noise-pop that namechecks a lot of shoegaze bands from the ’90s, the most obvious being My Bloody Valentine. But the similarities with Ringo Deathstarr (grins appear every time that name is typed) are only superficial, as this is a band that has a lot of great songs. The Austin trio played 12 shows at SXSW and consequently got a lot of buzz, due to its great songs and amazing name. Ringo Deathstarr. The name fits the band—after all, its sound is cobbled together from big names from decades long ago and yet made into a product all its own.
