Prince Rama, a band to which the phrase “tribal-psychedelic” can truly be applied, has announced an upcoming US tour. The trio plays a brand of ancient-sounding Eastern-tribal music that is, paradoxically, only able to be produced on modern synthesizers. John Lennon once wanted the sound of a thousand Tibetan monks chanting on “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Prince Rama actually comes close to sounding like that.

Prince Rama tours in support of the the group’s debut album Shadow Temple, which came out last September via Paw Tracks, Animal Collective’s imprint. We did an interview with the band back during CMJ Music Marathon last October, where we found out cool tidbits like the fact that its members were raised in a Hare Krishna commune in Florida. And that Prince Rama sounds like sex. Seriously.
