There is no such thing as too much Brooklyn, so please pay attention to Prince Rama. The Hare Krishna-bred Larson sisters, Taraka and Nimai, have another project to add to their list of things they do completely sober: a video series of their musician friends—according to Prince Rama, “a group of luminaries”—performing karaoke versions of the space cadet chant pop from the group’s upcoming album, Trust Now, which drops October 4 on Animal Collective‘s Paw Tracks label.
So far, they have released the first enthralling installment, which features a disco ball, some gold confetti curtains, a smoke machine and Woods‘ G. Lucas Crane warbling the lyrics to “Incarnation.” Having a smoke machine in a video of G. Lucas Crane karaoke-ing a Prince Rama song is sort of like having a machine spray the stars of Drunk History with vodka, but whatever. In the words of Prince Rama via G. Lucas Crane, “I am the ocean still/I am faces changing.”
Although there is no word yet as to the future stars of the karaoke series or when the installments will be posted, fans are told to “Trust Now” that the sisters have prepared a sweet lineup. Intuition tells me that the bill includes other Brooklyn musicians who harvest inspirational and visceral energy in Prince Rama’s creative embryo, but just in case, here are a few suggestions:
01. Odd Future or at least Earl Sweatshirt, because who wouldn’t want to see Odd Future Wolf Gang banging Prince Rama in your system?
02. Justin Bieber
03. Nirvana—come on, it’s not like these chicks can’t conduct a séance.
04. Kreayshawn and her White Girl Mob cohorts. Maybe just V-Nasty.
06. Memphis Blac and Smokahontas Jones
