CMJ 2011 performer Kendrick Lamar‘s stellar 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d. city sold its millionth copy this week, marking the album RIAA-certified Platinum. HipHopDX attributed the boost in sales to Lamar’s inspired verse on Big Sean’s “Control” (also featuring Jay Electronica), which, if that’s the case, way to go Big Sean.

We named good kid, m.A.A.d. city our No. 4 favorite album of 2012 and we’re way into that cinematic video for “Poetic Justice.”

We’re stoked, obviously. The milestone, which becomes increasingly difficult to achieve with each singles-focused passing year, puts Lamar in the same category with other platinum-striking hip-hop luminaries like Nas, Dr. Dre, De La Soul and Run-DMC. Congrats, Kendrick.
