Brooklyn shoegaze darlings the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are set to release a 7″ covers single. Their rendition of the Magnetic Fields’ “Jeremy,” backed with “My Life Is Wrong” by East River Pipe, will be out October 9 on Slumberland. “Jeremy” is now streaming below, as well as on the band’s Tumblr, where there’s also a note from keyboardist Peggy Wang about getting into the Magnetic Fields as a teen.

“They gave me hope that someday I would grow up and experience the kind of love that Stephin Merritt wrote about, even if it ended in the most hyperbolic of tragedies,” she writes. “They weren’t even songs I could relate to just yet…I just wanted to be able to relate to them one day.”

The band kicks off a European tour in continued support of its 2011 sophomore album, Belong. Dates are as follows.
