Novalima is bringing its variation on Afro-Peruvian roots music up north. The band, made up of four musicians who have been friends since attending high school together in Lima, Peru, is currently on tour in North America and will continue to make appearances across the U.S. and Canada, including a stop at the Central Park SummerStage, until the middle of July when it finishes up in Chicago.

The tour is perfectly timed: Just as summer is winding down and you’re starting to miss this Latin-Grammy-nominated band, its new album, Karimba, will be released. The record, which is the band’s third full-length, comes out September 13 via ESL and is sure to provide a mix of traditional Afro-Peruvian and more modern electronic beats.
