One Canadian singer-songwriter Feist will release Metals, her fourth album, on October 4. The album, which will be released on Cherrytree/Interscope, is the follow-up to 2007’s The Reminder and will feature Chilly Gonzales, Mocky and producer Valgeir Sigurðsson. According to the Winnipeg Free Press, it will contain 12 tracks and was recorded in Toronto and Big Sur, CA.
Rather than go the traditional route and make the announcement via a press release, she opted for a more mysterious method: posting a 35-second video on her YouTube account. The video was posted under the completely unhelpful name “#1” last Wednesday, and gave little indication as to what it signified. Today, she posted a second video (at the time of writing it was marked as ‘unlisted’), a teaser confusingly titled “#3,” which provides some answers to the questions that were raised by the first. The 49-second video shows Feist working in the studio with a string section and also announces the name of the album. You can watch both videos below.
