North Carolina natives the Mountain Goats has announced an upcoming US tour in support of its forthcoming release All Eternals Deck. The group joined Merge this past year and it is enjoying the office’s walking-distance proximity to songwriter John’s Darnielle’s house in Durham, North Carolina. The Mountain Goats forthcoming release, out May 3 via Merge, was partly produced by death metal legend Erik Rutan but based on what has been released so far, Rutan’s past clientele didn’t affect The Mountain Goats style too heavily. The first track, “Damn There Vampires,” is all smooth instrumentation and relaxing melodies, no distortion or double bass in sight.

Fellow North Carolina natives and country-rock maestros Megafaun will join the Mountain Goats on the road. Megafaun will be around for all dates except April 8, in Chapel Hill. More details and tour dates are expected to be announced in the near future.
