Katie Crutchfield’s new album under her mouthful of a moniker Waxahatchee is due out March 5 on Don Giovanni. Crutchfield’s sophomore release, called Cerulean Salt, was written and recorded over a week spent at her family home in Birmingham, AL. The end result from the former P.S. Eliot member is a step out from the bedroom beginnings of 2012’s American Weekends, collaborating with a full band this time around for another solid collection of lyric-driven guitar pop.

On second single, “Coast To Coast,” Crutchfield turns up the distortion a notch but sticks with her typical affectionate and endearing aesthetic. The vibe is more upbeat than her debut but doesn’t spare any of the introspection. Recently, Crutchfield wrapped up a string of East Coast tour dates and will make the pilgrimage to SXSW next month.
