Just before embarking on a U.S. tour to promote their captivating LP II, psychedelic rock trio ‪Unknown Mortal Orchestra lent their trippy, lo-fi textures to Otis Redding’s iconic (Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay for BBC. The result? A lazy, fuzzed-out track that feels new and familiar all at once.

Attempting a cover of a hallowed classic can be daunting, but Unknown Mortal Orchestra relish the challenge and even excel, creating a rendition that’s unexpectedly impressive. What makes this washed out cover so appealing is UMO’s ability to pay Redding’s original its due homage, while making their imprint feel apparent and all their own. Check it out, along with their upcoming tour dates, below.
