Cee Lo Green‘s newest track, “Bridges,” is a ’70s-inspired soul hit produced by the Neptunes (Pharrell and his equally talented buddy, Chad Hugo) that hooks you in at its first line. It’s an immediate musical lift that doesn’t only offer a message of hope and endurance, but also throws you back to the Quincy Jones musical style that most of today’s soul music lacks. Pharrell provides the backup vocals on “Bridges,” adding another interesting layer of the song.
“Bridges” was meant to be included on last year’s Lady Killer, but didn’t make the cut and was released as a b-side on Cee Lo’s EP It’s OK.
