Sound artist Tim Hecker has shared a video for album cut Black Refraction, directed by Sabrina Ratté. The track comes off Hecker’s follow-up to 2011’s Ravedeath, 1972, Virgins, set for release on October 14 via Kranky and Paper Bag. The clip shows a pendulum swinging back and forth inside an ancient-looking chapel. The slow motion footage combined with light distortions, and Hecker’s ambient music results in a hypnotic audio-visual experience. One of those rare occasions in which music and video seem to become one, the clip gave me an invaluable moment of peace (and we could all use one of those). Check out the video, below.
