Suno-Deko-608x608
Atlanta-based one-man band David Courtright aka, Suno Deko, named his debut single, Bluets after either A) a tiny flower or B) Maggie Nelson’s 2009 poetic nonfiction book that features numbered ruminations on the color blue. Even though it seems less obvious, I’m inclined to think it’s the latter, if only because Courtright’s woozy, sun-speckled lyrics (“There’s a hole inside of me/where a courage used to be…I’m walking backwards through you/Back through visions of our youth.”) explore the same elements of self-doubt and bodily de-familiarization that Nelson does. Or maybe not. The song comes off Suno Deko’s upcoming EP, Thrown Color. Listen and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates below.
