Joe Steinhardt, one of the co-founders of Don Giovanni Records and former member of the punk band For Science, has released the latest track from his folk-inflected solo project Modern Hut. The track, “Life,” comes from the band’s debut album Generic Treasure, out August 6 via (duh!) Don Giovanni.

Earlier in June, Steinhardt released his first slice of haunted acoustic pop, “History.” The new song, “Life,” has a similarly minimal title, but this one is a playful duet about life and death between Steinhardt and Screaming Females vocalist and album producer, Marissa Paternoster. It’s a moving and nostalgic Adam Green-like track filled with finely observed details (“It’s nights like these when the blankets and sheets don’t provide the warmth I need”) and somber truths (“I will die”). Listen to “Life” below.
