New Pornographers member Kathryn Calder has announced a set of East Coast dates for the month of June. Calder has been out West playing in support of her well-received debut LP, Are You My Mother?, and further establishing herself as an artist in her own right. The album, released last year on File Under, has a piano-driven sound that, owing to its being inspired by children’s books, comes off as both innocent and sophisticated.

Calder wraps up the West Coast leg of her tour in a few days, and then heads up to Canada for two weeks’ worth of dates before hitting Boston on June 13. Material from her debut, as well as some new stuff, will be worked into the setlists. For most of the East Coast nights, she will be joined by Brooklynites Bird Of Youth.

In anticipation of the tour, Calder is giving away free downloads of “If You Only Knew,” a song from Are You My Mother? that she wrote about life on the road. It’s full of tambourines, hand claps and fun harmonies, and you can download it here or stream it below.
