After collaborating on the video for “Moni Mon Amie,” Julia Holter and director Yelena Zhelezov are back at it with a video for “Goddess Eyes II.” The track comes from Holter’s Ekstasis LP, released this year in March.
The video starts with Holter popping her head through a white-washed board that serves as the floor of a doll-populated town. The idea is that Holter is the “all-seeing eye,” observing life’s scenes. According to Zhelezov, the clip is “inspired by the Latin phrase ‘deus ex machine,’” which has something to do with “unresolvable dramaturgical situations.” Best not to over-analyze.
