This March the Joy Formidable will get a jump start on the apocalypse by pummeling 14 cities around the U.S. and Canada with joyous noise during the band’s first-ever headlining tour, beginning in San Francisco and wrapping up in Toronto in April.

The Welsh rock trio’s 2012 tour announcement trails on the heels of an eventful 2011. The Joy Formidable released its debut full-length album, The Big Roar, last March, turned heads with “Whirring” on Letterman, scored the opening slot on the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtrack and opened a string of East Coast arenas for some band called the Foo Fighters. Following the success of the Foo tour, the Joy should expect a formidable turnout as headliners. Singer/guitarist Ritzy Bryan’s cropped blond locks are a more fan-friendly sight than Dave Grohl’s beardy mug, no matter what city you’re in.
