Nick Thorburn’s pop family Islands has been through many incarnations due to a fluctuating roster and changes in location, changes that have led the band to the release of its next album, A Sleep And A Forgetting, on February 14 through Anti-. The upcoming release is a product of heartbreak that drove Thorburn from New York to L.A. and possesses a “deeply personal and cathartic undercurrent” that makes the album reportedly more soulful than past releases.

Although the band is no longer based out of New York, Islands will be playing a show at the Dominion Theater And Lounge in Manhattan this Friday, October 28. Originally from Montreal, Islands’ upcoming album is its first release since Vapours in 2009. Thorburn started writing the album on Valentine’s Day last, and with the February 14 release of A Sleep And A Forgetting, the project will come full circle.
