Missouri-bred Ha Ha Tonka has announced the release of its third album Death Of A Decade (Bloodshot) for April 5, and it makes no apologies as to the imperfect nature of its most recent work, one that was brought up in a barn. Literally.

Making a trip to New Paltz, NY, Death Of A Decade was recorded in a 200 year old barn with a 30 foot roof where the group captured both its own sounds as well as the natural sounds made by the old structure. The southern bluegrass four-piece rock band said on its website that its newest installment draws on influences from country group Alabama and indie veterans Arcade Fire, making for a collaboration of the old and the new. After focusing more on the storytelling of their native Ozark region on previous albums Buckle In The Bible Belt and Novel Sounds Of The Nouveau South, the group’s third album displays maturity and celebrates the passing of time.

Ha Ha Tonka will take its new album on tour through the US starting in March. The road trip including dates at SXSW, one date with Sharon Van Etten, and with supporting acts Hoots And Hellmouth and the Spring Standards who will co-headline on select dates.
