Following up its 2010 release Play It Strange, Californian outfit the Fresh And Onlys will release a new EP, Secret Walls (Sacred Bones) on April 26. Keeping with its position in post-rock, the four-piece shows its maturity on this EP with more glossed over, garage pop romance.
Secret Walls was recorded in the band’s hometown of San Francisco in the home of its guitarist, Wymond Miles, a setting that enhanced the group’s signature sound, and emphasizing the percussion of drummer Kyle Gibson.
Starting as a shared project between singer Tim Cohen and bassist Shayde Sartin, the Fresh And Onlys and made its debut in 2009 with its self-titled album. Having toured with Deerhunter and Clinic, and made an appearance at SXSW, the band has been hailed as one of the hardest working in the rock genre, with over ten releases in both the US and abroad.
The group’s North American tour begins in March at this year’s SXSW, and runs through the end of April when its EP will be released. Supporting acts will include Crocodiles, Young Prisms and more.
