Festival Nrmal, Monterrey, Mexico’s pre-SXSW festival staked its claim in the pre-summer festival turf by hosting some of the best gritty garage rock bands from all corners of the Western Hemisphere. This year’s line-up, announced today, keeps the talent coming: the bill is heavy with CMJ 2012 and CMJ 2012 alumni such as DIIV, Trash Talk, Twin Shadow, Sky Ferreira, King Tuff, and Main Attrakionz as well as a plethora of must-see Latin-American artists, like the all-female power trio Las Robertas (Costa Rica), rapper Eptos Uno (Mexico), indie sweethearts Banda De Touristas (Argentina), pop-ambient atist Algodon Egipcio (Venezuela) amd Kompakt-signee and dance throwback producer Daniel Maloso (Mexico).

For those who didn’t cut Spanish class in high school, Festival Nrmal’s site has the full line-up. Only 140 miles from the U.S. border at Laredo, we expect to see a few of these up-and comers making appearances in Austin the following week. In the meantime, you can hear a few selections from some choice acts below.
