Aleksa Palladino, one half of Brooklyn’s Exitmusic and a striking contralto (and Michael Pitt’s wife on Boardwalk Empire), is up to the neck in water. She’s also holding a torch in a melancholy field and rocking out in a dangerously smoke-filled room. Then everything lights on fire. This might be a high-minded metaphorical description of “Passage,” a cut off Exitmusic’s upcoming debut, but it’s also a fairly straight description of the video for that song, a beautifully shot cinematic vision from director Will Joines. So, naturally, it’s a great pairing for the song, which is as theatrical as it is unhinged.
