Just a few months after the reissue of last year’s Sun Bronzed Greek Gods, Boston-based, self-described pop genius Dom is releasing his second EP, Family Of Love, in August.

Dom’s story is an epic one, and he does not mind rehashing it. As he told NME last year, Dom’s mother abandoned him when he was eight, and he stated her reasoning was as such: “I grew up in foster care since the age of eight. I’m one of six. My mother gave me up ’cos I have red hair. She had a thing about it.” At 16, he bought his first guitar and started making pop music with influences ranging from Mariah Carey to the Replacements.

Family Of Love (out August 9) is named for the family Dom never had, as well as an homage to the people who inspire him. The album differs from its predecessor in that it was recorded in a proper studio. The EP was produced by Nicolas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Björk) so expect the new material to be certainly poppy but also a little more experimental.

Dom has said he wants to “pump out as many records as possible,” so already a third EP is in the works. Dom will also hit the road this summer on a short five-date tour of festival appearances. Check below for the tracklisting for Family Of Love and a full list of Dom’s summer dates.
