Japanese rock band Dir En Grey has just announced an upcoming North American tour with Canadian synth-rock band the Birthday Massacre. Dir En Grey, which will release its new album, Dum Spiro Spero, August 2, has been touring all over the world for a decade but has recently found new motivation: the aftereffects of the devastating earthquake that hit Japan. Channeling this energy into the release of the new album, the band will begin the tour next month in Europe before continuing on this side of the Atlantic with stops in South America and, finally, North America in December. Pre-sale tickets are available now for members of the Dir En Grey Internet Fan Community, and regular tickets will go on sale July 22.
Dum Spiro Spero is the eighth album from this five-member band and will be released on the End. Its title is translated as “While I Breathe, I Hope,” and it is the band’s message to the world from the people of Japan.
