Jazz pianist and vocalist Diane Schuur has signed with Vanguard Records to release her upcoming collection of covers, The Gathering, on June 7. The jazz legend’s newest release will feature appearances by Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and Mark Knopfler on her reinterpretation of country songs from the ‘60s.

The two-time Grammy-winning Schuur has been making music for almost 30 years, playing venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and even the White House. She has recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra on 1987’s Diane Schuur And The Count Basie Orchestra and worked with the late founder of Atlantic, Ahmet Ertegun, on 1999’s Music Is My Life.

Having always wanted to record in Nashville, TN, Schuur was given the opportunity to do so on The Gathering, which was recorded in a little more than one day. Schuur continues to blur the lines between jazz, pop and country on this album, which covers Willie Nelson’s “Healing Hands Of Time,” Merle Haggard’s “Today I Started Loving You Again,” and Roger Miller’s “ When Two Worlds Collide” among others.
