Rumors have abounded as to who’d be playing the official kick-off to the North American summer festival season (sorry, Mick Jaggerites). And Coachella has finally quenched all of that is-Daft-Punk-really-playing thirst. The always-strong yearly Who’s Who of up-and-coming artists takes place over two weekends again, from April 12-14 and from April 19-21, in Indio, California.

Many of the headliners are likely to hit the international festival circuit, with some, including Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Wu-Tang Clan and Grizzly Bear, already announced for Primavera Sound. And, as usual, the bill contains several artists who have had landmark CMJ performances over the past few years, like Tanlines, DIIV, Robert DeLong, Unicorn Kid, Trash Talk and Wild Nothing. Of interest here, too, is Nick Cave’s abrasive project, Grinderman, which, according to the Quietus, split in late 2011.
