French electro-pop composer Yuksek is preparing to drop his new self-titled LP on Valentine’s Day, but you don’t have to wait until then to hear his latest work. Today, Yuksek is teaming up with CMJ to premiere an exclusive track remixed by Tom Furse from beloved pop-goths the Horrors. Furse’s “Always On The Run” remix blends elements of both acts’ sounds in a building, booming dance track shimmering with synth flourishes and echoing vocals. The end result is a hypnotic jam that sets the tone for Yuksek’s impending American invasion.
Born Pierre-Alexander Busson, Yuksek crafts decadent dance tracks with irresistible pop centers: meticulously plotted creations that no doubt owe their refinement to the Frenchman’s classical training. The Horrors isn’t the only popular band he’s teamed up with, however: He’s also cut tracks with New York chill-funk kings Chromeo and crossover success Amanda Blank. If you’re looking for a swoonier, more melodic alternative to Justice without losing any of the European appeal, Yuksek’s your (French)man.
