After four long years, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is back with a new album titled Hysterical, set to release in the States on September 20. This is the band’s first release since 2007’s Some Loud Thunder. The album was produced by John Congleton, whose credits include Explosions In The Sky, Okkervil River and Modest Mouse.
Along with this announcement, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah released a teaser video that previews some of the new material on Hysterical. The video lives up to its name in that it is a horrible tease—featuring short snippets from three separate new songs set over black-and-white footage of the band recording. You can expect to hear some songs off of the new record in their entirety sometime in June.
Coinciding with the release of Hysterical, the band is slated to play two festivals Stateside (Outside Lands Festival and the Sunset Junction Festival) along with a seven-date tour through Europe. Dates in the U.S. are to be announced shortly. And before entering tour mode, the band plans to reissue a remastered version of its self-titled 2005 debut on vinyl June 14.
