Northern California-based guitarist and songwriter Cass McCombs is on the road again, a theme that finds its way into the essence of this artist’s sound. This time McCombs is heading down to Austin, TX, for SXSW before playing some U.S. shows in May in support of his upcoming LP. The release date of McCombs’ fifth full-length album, Wit’s End, has been pushed back to April 26 and will be available on LP, CD, cassette and digital formats via Domino.

Wit’s End is the result of McCombs recording in multiple houses and studios over the last two years in California, New Jersey, New York and Chicago. By teaming up quiet, blues-driven organs and guitars with McCombs’ sensitive vocal style, the album should encapsulate the exemplary sound that fans have come to expect from McCombs. Joining him at SXSW and on the following tour are Will Canzoneri (keyboard), Dan Lead (guitar), Rob Barbato (bass) and Dan Allaire (drums). The opening track of Wit’s End, “County Line,” is available for previewing here.
