Sultry British singer-songwriter Anna Calvi is going on her first American tour this May, playing dates in support of her self-titled debut. Last year, Calvi toured the U.K. with Grinderman, Arctic Monkeys and Interpol, wearing Flamenco-style clothing and playing an electric guitar like her life depended on it.

Anna Calvi was released earlier this year via Domino and featured collaborator Brian Eno singing backing vocals. The album was characterized by Calvi’s strikingly throaty vocals and shimmering guitar, and got her nominated for BBC’s Sound of 2011.

Domino just released Calvi’s first single, “Blackout.” It’s a standout slow burn, swooning-ly romantic and lush with little Mediterranean flourishes. Catch her when she comes.
