Good news for your winter cuddle situation: My Bloody Valentine is set to release new material for the first time since 1991′s legendary Loveless. In an interview with NME, frontman Kevin Shields announced that a record will be released on Shield’s website by the end of the year.
“I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something,” Shields told NME. “Based on the very, very few people who’ve heard stuff—some engineers, the band, and that’s about it—some people think it’s stranger than Loveless. I don’t. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it’s 100 per cent necessary.”
The new album, whose name has yet to be unveiled, will be followed by an EP. The seminal shoegaze act will also be headlining the Tokyo Rocks festival in spring 2013.
